BETSY ARVELO
I have always been intrigued by things: the way they are designed, the reason people use them, how they use them, and most important, why they get discarded. There is a kind of romanticism in the fact that people used these objects, discarded them, I found them and used them once more, choosing them for their shapes and colors to inmortalize them in a painting. I like to think of my paintings as found areas of my studio. For years I had a little piece of paper, the middle of which, had been cut out in a rectangular shape. I would look through this rectangle and find my paintings in the studio from among my collections.
